Australian “Guitar Slinger” James Southwell is set to release a career defining album, recorded at the famed Dockside Studio in Maurice Louisiana. This new James Southwell album, “The Dockside Sessions” (Where The Wind Blows) is set for international release by MGM on March 3  2017. 

This album came about after James Southwell and Charlie Wooton met at the 2015 Narooma Blues Festival in Australia, Wooton was there touring with the "Royal Southern Brotherhood" James was blown away by Charlie's Bass playing, and in turn, Charlie loved James' songs. Charlie flew to Australia in January 2016 to hang out with James and play Bass in the James Southwell Band at the Thredbo Blues Festival. Charlie invited James back to the States to play some shows with his band, "The Charlie Wooton Project" While there, Charlie suggested they record a few of James' songs, this evolved into "The Dockside Sessions"  

This album was recorded in July 2016 at the Grammy Award Winning Dockside Studio in Maurice Louisiana, where B.B. King, Dr. John, Taj Mahal, Mark Knofpler, Mavis Staples, Junior Wells, Derek Trucks, Jim Keltner, The Royal Southern Brotherhood, Levon Helm, Keb Mo, Scarlett Johansson, George Porter Jr, Snarky Puppy, Ivan Neville, Bobby Charles, Leon Russell, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Steve Potts, Sonny Landreth, Johnny Lang, and Cyril Neville have all recorded, just to name a few!  

Charlie Wooton assembled some of the finest musicians in the world to play on this record, including all the following, with just a few of their credits.  

CHARLIE WOOTON/Producer & Bass: The Royal Southern Brotherhood, The New Orleans Suspects, Zac Brown, Sonny Landreth.  

DOUG BELOTE/Drums: Eric Clapton, Tedeschi Trucks, Sonny Landreth.  

MICHAEL LEMMLER/Keys: 20 years with George Porter Jr, The Funky Meters.  

JASON RICCI/Harmonica, Vocals & Rap: Played on the Johnny Winter album “Step Back” than won a Grammy, Zac Brown, Tom Morello. Among Ricci’s many awards is the “Best Harmonica Player” at the 2010 Blues Music Awards. Ricci has also been a featured performer at both the Grammy Awards, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame awards. Jason is considered by many to be the best harmonica player in the world!  

RAFAEL PEREIRA/Percussion: Over 70 albums, Rafa has played on the Grammy Awards, Saturday Night Live, David Letterman and Arsenio Hall. He has also played with Janelle Monae, Prince, Bruno Mars, BOB, and many others.  

JAMISON ROSS/Backing Vocals: Toured the world with Grammy Award winning Carmon Lundy, Dr John, Jon Batiste, Snarky Puppy, and many more.  

DAVID FARREL/Master Engineer: 6 Grammy Awards, 15 Grammy Award nominations.  

JAMES SOUTHWELL/Guitars & Vocals: Touring for the past 11 years, over 2000 shows, including many festival appearances in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. Three previous releases.  

BB King's guitar "Lucille": Steve Nails the owner of Dockside Studio was so impressed with Southwell's guitar playing that he offered him BB King's guitar "Lucille" (a gift from BB King to Nails after recording an album at Dockside in 2001) to use during his recording sessions. James used King's guitar on his song "Give Up" He recorded the guitar track for this song in one take using this guitar. Master Engineer David Farrell said that "It was great to capture a moment in time like that in one take"
